How to Choose the Right Sanitary Pad

Most people pick a sanitary pad once, early on, and never think about it again. That is usually how you end up with leaks, rashes, and a pad that never quite fits.

Absorbency

Match the pad to the day, not to the whole period. Most people need a heavier pad for the first two days and a lighter one after that. Using one heavy pad throughout is uncomfortable and wasteful. Care-O-Safe makes maxi pads for regular days and super maxi pads for heavy days, and most people use both across a single cycle.

Length and coverage

A pad that is too short leaks at the back when you sit or sleep. If you leak overnight, the answer is usually a longer pad rather than a thicker one.

Fabric

This is the part most people never check. Many disposable pads use a plastic top sheet, which traps heat and moisture against the skin. That is what causes most period rashes. A breathable cotton surface makes a noticeable difference if you are prone to irritation.

Fit and fastening

A pad that shifts is a pad that leaks. Wings with a snap button hold the pad in place through a full day of moving around, rather than relying on adhesive that gives up by lunchtime.

Care-O-Safe reusable pads are chemical free and plastic free, with a breathable surface and a leak proof core. They can be worn for up to eight hours, and one pack lasts about two years.
